Thanks for coming out Nov. 14th!!!
When John Lennon proclaimed “The Beatles are more popular than Jesus”, sparking international outrage, few people realized that he wasn’t referring to Jesus Christ, he was actually comparing The Beatles to the second rate Mexican wrestler, Jesús*. Considering he is now competing in the Japanese wrestling circuit under a different pseudonym, I think we can officially clear Lennon of all charges, and also say this: based on the show last Monday, Community Music is more popular than Jesús.
Over a hundred people (!!) came out to raise the temperature of 83 Oxford by 10 degrees in 3 hours (that’s a true fact) and witness incredible music by:
The Geese, a flock of musicians who soared, with high-flying harmonies that migrated south down our ear canals and landed with a splash in our collective conscience.
Your Neck of the Woods, who manhandled their wild, throaty melodies, offering us a taste of the immense forest of homegrown talent…thank goodness they played more than t(h)ree songs!
Ivy Mairi, who is probably tired of these obscure puns, so I’ll just say this: her quiet songs slowly crept their way from our toes to the tops of our heads, eventually planting themselves in our hearts and sprouting flowers in our mind.
What a wonderful show…truly a highlight for CM. Stay tuned for videos/photos of the evening!
Thanks for coming out and making the show such a wild success! Special thanks to Kira (and housemates), and Erin (sp?), who did all the legwork.
Till next time,
-CM
*of trivial importance: Jesús was born after John Lennon said those famous words.
